As someone who avoids being in front of the lens, I'm not exactly sure why I love the genre of Self-Portraiture so much. Perhaps it is because it allows for a truth-telling of sorts, or a glimpse into a photographer's psyche. I also have to acknowledge the bravery it takes to expose oneself, and in the end it brings us all a little closer as we relate to the stories being told. This exhibition has work that ranges from poignant and personal to humorous and magical. It was a complete pleasure and privilege to spend time with so many approaches to revealing self…

Cityscape photography consists of urban and public places and scenes of everyday life. Everybody is on the run. The pace of life never slows down. There is a hectic rhythm full of noise and shouts. Images and situations pass in front of our eyes and disappear within seconds. Moments of happiness and unhappiness taking place in cities or towns, happen around tall, impressive buildings. Life and death, loss and achievement coexist in those buildings that contribute to the creation of the character and the atmosphere of each city.

Photography holds power. The act of taking a photo acts as a historical marker and a capture of time. Just as archaeologists offer hypotheses about ancient societies based on cave paintings, historians of the future will base their conjectures about us on the photography that is happening at this very moment, including yours.
As technology makes our world more interconnected, the act of creation has become a universal language and a vital conversation. Your photography, represented at the Fifth Annual Exposure Award reception is a thrilling contribution to that dialogue.
It's been an honor to have your work included. Thank you for sharing your photography with us and with the world.
